• The Athletes in Action Fire beat the Anchorage Bucs 9-7 in Wednesday's first game of a doubleheader at Mulchay Stadium.

The Fire scored five runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by Aaron Parnell's one-out grand slam, which gave the Fire the lead for good at 8-3. Parnell went 3 for 4, with three runs and four RBIs.

Chad Fromm won, pitching 2 2/3 innings with one strikeout.

• The Fairbanks Goldpanners' and Mat-Su Miners' doubleheader was rained out in Fairbanks on Wednesday. They are scheduled to play a doubleheader today. Today's scheduled game between the Goldpanners and Miners will be made up at a later date.
