Dimond Legion eliminated at Regional

Dimond Post 21 was eliminated from American Legion Baseball's Northwest Regional in Spokane, Wash., in the minimum two games with Friday's 13-3 loss to Wausau, Wis., in seven innings at Gonzaga University.

Wausau first baseman Mike Paman unleashed a monster game on Dimond, going 4 for 4 with two home runs, a double, seven RBIs and four runs scored. Paman cranked a three-run bomb in the fifth inning and his solo shot with one out in the bottom of the seventh ended the game based on the 10-run mercy rule. Catcher Jason Kyle also homered for Wausau.

Dimond, the Alaska state champion, lost 18-3 to Boise, Idaho, in its Thursday opener.

Friday, Dimond surrendered 15 hits for the second straight day. Starter Dylan Lauwers went 2 1/3 innings and gave up four earned runs. Erik Scott pitched the final four innings and gave up 11 hits and nine runs, seven of them earned.

Matt Pritchard, Dylan Lauwers, who doubled, and Kyle Clapper each drove in runs for Dimond. Colton Lauwers (2 for 3), Vince Partusch (2 for 4) and Dylan Lauwers ( 1 for 4) accounted for all five of Dimond's hits.

Wausau starter Adam Kramer went 6 2/3 innings, struck out seven, walked eight and threw 135 pitches.
