Walker, Berkowitz make deal

Bill Walker, who ran for governor in the Republican primary this summer, said Friday he has agreed to work on Democratic candidate Ethan Berkowitz's gas line team, should Berkowitz be elected governor next month.

Berkowitz is challenging Gov. Sean Parnell, who beat Walker and Ralph Samuels in the August Republican contest.

Walker said he's not endorsing Berkowitz but agreed to the Democrat's request to lead a team working for an all-Alaska natural gas pipeline from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez.

Walker's campaign focused on his vision for a pipeline along that route. He's a former Valdez mayor and still Valdez city attorney. He's been working on the project for years.
