Cougars ride Deal's 2-goal night to win

Service's Conor Deal scored two goals and Andrew Cummings came up with the game-winner, leading the Cougars to a 3-2 win over East in a Cook Inlet Conference hockey game at Ben Boeke Arena on Monday.

The Thunderbirds, who were short three players, put the game's first goal on the board midway through the second period when Alex Jackstadt scored off an assist from Kainoa Kitagawa.

Service tied it when Deal scored his first goal with about a minute to go in the second period. Deal scored again, less than a minute into the third period, to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead. Cummings made it 3-1 at the 9:55 mark of the third.

Chugiak 7, Bartlett 1

Chugiak rolled to a 7-1 victory over Bartlett in a CIC hockey game at the McDonald Center on Monday.

Mitchell Moore and Sam Linder each notched two goals, and Jake Wells handed out two assists.

Bartlett's Zachery Perry prevented a shutout with a goal at the 5:47 mark in the second period.

Dimond 12, North Pole 0

Tyler Thompson, Tyler Andrews and Dawson Glover each scored two goals for Dimond in a 12-0 win over host North Pole in a nonconference high school hockey game Saturday.

Dimond's Austin Browning scored the first goal at the 2:08 mark of the first period and the Lynx kept the goals coming until Sam Berdahl scored the final goal in the final minute of the game.

The Lynx outshot North Pole 57-8, and Nick Kinder earned the shutout.
