Parks parking passes available

State parks users aiming to use their 2011 parking pass to the fullest can buy one at REI, Alaska Mountaineering and Hiking and the Division of Natural Resources Public Information Center, 550 W. Seventh Ave.

One annual pass costs $40. Two -- for the same family at the same address -- cost $60. Additional passes are full price. One annual boat launch pass is $75.

Beware, the Little Su Public Use Facility, Pillars Boat Launch, Arctic Valley and the Eagle River Nature Center do not accept state parks parking passes. To order online go to https://dnr.alaska.gov/parks/Passes.cfm

Get your state fishing license early

Anglers looking to get a jump on the 2011 season can now buy licenses and king salmon stamps at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game as well as area vendors.

All 2010 sport fishing regs should remain in effect through April 14. But anglers should keep an eye out a continuation of emergency orders issued in June reducing bag and possession limits for all fish in Anchorage area lakes as well as a continuation of the spawning closures and catch-and-release only emergency regulations issued last April for rainbow trout in Campbell, Chester, and Sixmile creek drainages.
