Too hot for running sled dogs

Warm weather turned the two-day Orville and Doris Lake Memorial sled-dog race into a single-day affair when officials on Sunday canceled the final heat because of 48-degree temperatures at the Tozier Track on Tudor Road. That gave the open-class victory to Daryl Hollingsworth, the winner of Saturday's 12-mile opening heat run in 32-degree weather. By Sunday, strong winds and warm weather made the trails unraceable.
