'Sarah Palin's Alaska' awards Alaska Dispatch for 'Our Alaska'

"Sarah Palin's Alaska," the official website for TLC's cable reality show by the same name, has awarded Alaska Dispatch "The Broadsheet Award for the Best Extended Coverage."

David Murray, editor of the site's media blog, "The Broadsheet," explains the awards series, "It's like the technical Emmys, except you'll recognize fewer of these people!"

Weekly as each episode of Sarah Palin's Alaska has aired, Alaska Dispatch chronicled "Our Alaska," a series of short narrative videos highlighting little-known people and slices of life in Alaska, and we posted value-added summaries of each week's TLC episode. And apparently our effort, especially the hard work of Stephen Nowers and Maia Nolan, did not go unnoticed. Though he neglected to mention the "Our Alaska" video of an Alaskan rescuing an animal from an outhouse pit (perhaps because of the uncensored profanity), Murray links readers to some highlights from our series:

After noting that there would be an unseemly conflict of interest if Broadsheet gave the "Best Extended Coverage" award to its own website, Murray explains why Alaska Dispatch was singled out for praise:

The Broadsheet Award also allegedly comes with a stash of "free Hanukkah gelt," but we have to travel cross-country to pick it up. Reportedly, that constitutes "a fair deal" in David Murray's New York.
