Win streak returns UAA men to national rankings

For the first time since its powerhouse team of 2007-08, the UAA men's basketball team has fought its way into NABC/Division II Coaches Poll.

The Seawolves (12-3, 4-0 conference) have parlayed an 11-game winning streak dating back to last year's Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout into the No. 25 spot in the national rankings, announced on Tuesday.

A West Virginia team, undefeated West Liberty (11-0), leads the poll. UAA is the only team from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with a spot.

UAA's last appearance in the poll came when it finished the 2007-08 season ranked No. 4. That Seawolf team featured Valdez's Carl Arts at center and all-time UAA assists leader Luke Cooper at point guard.

This week, the Seawolves visit Simon Fraser University in British Columbia on Thursday and Western Washington University on Saturday.
