Kaylie Robison came off the bench to provide 11 points and 12 rebounds and was part of a balanced attack Thursday that gave the 15th-ranked UAA women's basketball team a 63-48 victory over Central Washington in Ellensburg, Wash.
Though Robison was UAA's only scorer in double figures, the Seawolves put 10 in the scoring column, with eight scoring five or more.
"I was really proud of our team effort tonight," said UAA coach Tim Moser, who has been preaching team play all season. "This was what we envisioned coming into the season as far as a balanced attack, and I hope we can keep this up through the stretch run."
The Seawolves (18-5 overall, 9-3 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) won their third straight game to remain in second place in the conference with six regular-season games remaining, half of them at home.
Robison, a 6-foot junior forward, racked up her third double-double of the season but her first since Nov. 13. She started the season with a bang but quickly cooled off, but she has reasserted herself in the last couple of weeks. The 12 rebounds Thursday were her season high and the 11 points (on 4 of 6 shooting) matched her season high.
"Kaylie really gave us a lift tonight with her energy and her smart play on both ends of the court," Moser said in a press release.
UAA lead 33-17 at the half but almost led the Wildcats back in the game. Central Washington (6-12, 1-10) hit five of its first field goal attempts of the second half to cut UAA's lead to nine, 40-31, but that's as close as the Wildcats came. UAA sealed the win with a 13-2 run.
Hanna Johansson, UAA's 6-2 junior center, turned in nine points and nine rebounds and Tijera Mathews added nine points. The backcourt combination of Nikki Aden and Kaitlyn McBride proved potent, with chipping in five points, six rebounds and three assists and McBride adding five points and six assists. McBride, the point guard, had just one turnover and Aden had none.
The Wildcats, meanwhile, turned the ball over 21 times.
UAA's road trip continues Saturday with a game against Northwest Nazarene in Nampa, Idaho.
