Morgan Dampier of Wasilla ran a blazing 400 meters Friday to highlight first-day action of the Big C Relays at The Dome.
Dampier won the girls race in 57.92 seconds, comfortably ahead of second-place Jessica Todd of Dimond (59.36).
The meet continues today. At 12:50 p.m., Kodiak's Trevor Dunbar, who runs for the University of Portland, will take aim at a sub-4-minute mile.
Later in the afternoon, a pair of guest athletes -- reigning Olympic decathlon champion Bryan Clay and three-time NCAA decathlon champion Ashton Eaton -- will each run a leg in a 4x100 relay that will feature just two teams, each made up of one boy, one girl, one coach and one world-class decathlete.
