Service splits two in Sitka

The Service High baseball team opened its season Friday by splitting a pair of games in Sitka.

The Cougars fell 10-7 to Ketchikan, then rebounded with a 6-4 win over Sitka.

In Service's win, the Cougars scored three runs in the top of the seventh and final inning, parlaying two Sitka errors, two hit batsmen and RBI singles by Ryan Caron and Jake Ridley into a game-winning rally.

Caron earned the win for Service and Garrett Brown pitched a scoreless seventh for the save.

The Cougars will play both teams again today.
