-- Right-hander Kyle Finnegan struck out five, did not walk a batter and scattered eight hits, going seven innings Wednesday to steer the Anchorage Bucs to a 6-5 non-league victory over the Anchorage Glacier Pilots at Mulcahy Stadium.

One night after they managed two hits against the Pilots, the Bucs pounded 16 hits in nine innings.

After starting the season 0 for 19, Clay Cederquist of the Pilots stroked a two-run home run off Finnegan (1-1) in the fifth inning. He followed that with a single and an RBI single.

The Pilots scored three runs in the top of the ninth, in part courtesy of two Bucs errors.

Jamison Rowe of the Bucs doubled, went 3 for 5 and scored twice.

-- Kevin Lum scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the fifth inning Wednesday night to help the Mat-Su Miners to a 4-2 Alaska Baseball League win over the visiting AIA Fire at Hermon Brothers Field in Palmer.

The game was shortened by rain and called after five innings.

AIA jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on RBI singles from Tyler Oldham and Scott Kalamar. The Miners rallied to take the lead with a three-run fifth that featured Tim Zier's two-run single and Lum's run.

-- Starter Matt Milke and two relievers combined on a three-hitter Wednesday and Chris Doyle drove in three runs to lead the Fairbanks Goldpanners to a 10-1 win over the Lake Erie (Mich.) Monarchs at Growden Park in Fairbanks.
