The Australian state of Tasmania is an island that sits about 150 miles south of the mainland. With more than a third of the heart shaped island designated as national parks and world heritage sites, there is an abundance of wilderness to explore, along with sandy white beaches tucked between rugged volcanic cliffs. Popularized by Looney Tunes as a whirling, cute cartoon, the carnivorous Tasmanian devil has been known to eat the bodies of murder victims or people who have committed suicide. But don't worry, the pungent odor and loud screeches of these nocturnal hunters should steer you clear of their habitats.

"Tasmania is an indulgent place for the senses. You'll get to feel the coolness of the rainforest, breathe deeply the freshest air on the planet, smell the sassafras, spot a platypus, hug a tree, drink from a waterfall, reflect at a river, hear the roar of the wild ocean, feel the salt on your skin, lose your mind and find your soul." -- www.underdown\
