Downtown events put a crimp in Mass parking for Holy Family

Over the years, the Catholics of Holy Family Cathedral have been able to live with the limited access to church during the various parades and races held on Saturday morning during church Mass on the adjacent streets.

In recent years, these events have been held on Sunday mornings during the time three Masses are held. Last Sunday took the prize as Sixth Avenue was closed, H Street with handicapped access and parking was closed, and Fifth Avenue had cars parked in front, which did not allow safe exit from a car. The only access was the one-way street on the west through a narrow alley.

One wonders with all the streets and trails available, why these events have to be held on the adjacent streets on a day the church has its greatest participation. I guess the city officials don't really care.
