Unbeaten in CIC basketball, Service and Bartlett boys collide

Three unbeaten teams remain in the Cook Inlet Conference boys basketball standings, and two face off tonight at 7:30 p.m., when Service entertains defending state champion Bartlett in one of three CIC games. In the other games, Eagle River will host Chugiak and East will host West.

Bartlett is 3-0 in CIC play and coming off a runner-up finish in last week's Alaska Airlines Classic at West High. The Golden Bears faced three out-of-state teams in the tournament, beating Mount Zion of Durham, N.C. and Christian Life Academy of Houston before losing in the championship game to East Hall of Gainseville, Ga.

Service, which finished third in the state tournament last season, is 2-0 in CIC play with wins over Chugiak and Eagle River.

Dimond is the third undefeated team, currently sitting in first place with four CIC wins and getting ready to host the Alaska Prep Shootout, an eight-team tournament that runs Thursday through Saturday. Teams scheduled to compete are Dimond, South, Kenai, Ketchikan, Lathrop, Anchorage Christian, Monroe and Unalaska.

Eight girls basketball teams will also begin tournament play Thursday in East's Lady T-Bird Classic. East, Bartlett, Grace Christian, Seward, Thunder Mountain, North Pole, Ketchikan and Soldotna are scheduled to play.
