South 56, Eagle River 28 in girls basketball

Freshman point guard Grace Williams went inside the paint to provide help on the boards for the South Wolverines on Friday, grabbing 12 boards to help her team to a 56-28 Cook Inlet Conference drubbing of Eagle River.

Jasmine Ashby scored 16 points and Taylor Murray chipped in 12 for South. Eagle River was led by Samantha Cox (11 points) and Danielle Crow (9).

Colony 50, Chugiak 33

Faith Farris and Jessica Nelson each sank a pair of 3-pointers in the second half to break open a close game and carry Colony past Chugiak 50-33 in a nonconference game Friday in Palmer.

Farris finished with 10 points and Nelson with 7. Jennifer Solaro led the Knights with 12 points.

Jessi McMullen's 11 points and Alistie Augilar's 10 points paced the Mustangs, who trailed just 21-19 at halftime but were down 34-25 after three quarters.

Grace 42, Homer 19

Grace Christian dominated the second half to turn back Homer 42-19 at Homer's Winter Carnival on Friday.

The Grizzlies, who limited Homer to a single basket in the fourth quarter, outscored the Mariners 26-9 in the second half.
