Mancari to compete at junior worlds

For the second straight year, Anchorage's Rosie Mancari will compete in the FIS Snowboard Junior World Championships. She will travel to Spain this week, where the U.S. Snowboard team will begin competition Saturday.

Mancari, 18, qualified for slalom and giant slalom gate racing in last year's event, but has focused on snowboardcross racing this year. She opted for early graduation from South High in December, so she could train and enter races in the Lower 48 and Canada.

One of Mancari's best finishes this year was a third place in January at a Holeshot NorAm Tour event at the Copper Mountain Resort in Colorado, the highest finish of any junior American in the event.
