KENAI -- Two joggers were injured when struck by a car whose driver is accused of being under the influence of controlled substances.
The Peninsula Clarion says the incident occurred Wednesday evening on Kalifornsky Beach Road.
Court records say that 36-year-old Jeromy Hurlburt of Soldotna was driving his car when it veered into opposing lanes before going onto the bike bath where two Soldotna residents were jogging.
Joan Miller, 63, and her 46-year-old daughter, Melanie Papp, were taken to Central Peninsula Hospital. A hospital spokeswoman said she could not release information on their conditions.
Witnesses said the car was traveling 45 to 50 mph, and the women were thrown over the hood. Records say Hurlburt performed poorly in a field sobriety test and was arrested.
