Rohde posts double-double in All-Star game

UAA center Taylor Rohde recorded the game's only double-double Friday at the Reese's NCAA Division II All-Star game in Highland Heights, Ky., helping the West team earn a 120-110 victory over the East.

The 6-foot-9 Rohde notched 18 points, hitting 9 of a game-high 19 field-goal attempts. His 10 rebounds, three blocked shots and 27 minutes also led all players.

A consensus All-American who was also named Player of the Year in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and West Region this season, Rohde is the first UAA player to appear in an all-star game.

Rohde was instrumental in an early surge by the West, which led 56-42 at halftime. Rohde scored eight of his points during 13-5 run that gave the West a 49-31 lead late in the first half.

The high-scoring pace escalated in the second half, with each team scoring more than 60 points after intermission.

Each team finished with 102 field-goal attempts and combined for 78 shots from beyond the 3-point arc.

Rohde transferred to UAA after two seasons at Arizona State.

He led the GNAC in scoring with 19.8 points per game, and also led the conference in field-goal percentage at 62.7. Rohde also delivered a conference-best nine double-doubles.

That standout play in the post helped the Seawolves advance to the NCAA Division II playoffs.

Rohde, a senior, was a first-team All-GNAC pick in each of his two seasons.

On UAA's all-time lists, Rohde ranks 11th in points (1,143) and tied for 11th in rebounds (463). He is also the school's career leader in field-goal percentage at 62.1 percent.
