Service 2, East 1 in boys soccer

Service goalie Taylor Turney fended off numerous shots from East on Saturday, and Adam Klie scored twice to give the Cougars a 2-1 Cook Inlet Conference win in a boys soccer match at The Dome.

Klie used his head to flick the match's first goal over the line early in the second half. Klie put the Cougars up 2-0 on a breakaway from midfield.

East narrowed the lead to a goal, scoring with five minutes left, but the Service defense held.

Dimond 4, West 1

Set up by first-half goals from Travis Merritt and Kerrick Eagle, the Dimond boys soccer team cruised to a 4-1 CIC win over West at The Dome on Saturday.

Merritt scored the match's first goal on a penalty kick in the third minute, but West soon evened the match at 1-1. Eagle gave Dimond a 2-1 halftime lead with a goal in the 32nd minute.

"The first half was a hard-fought physical kind of game," Dimond coach John Oliver said. "I think my team settled down and played better in the second half."

Austin Portch and Jack Sedor accounted for Dimond's second-half goals, and the Lynx improved to 4-0-0.

Eagle River 3, Chugiak 0

Getting two goals from Patrick Prior and one from Kevin Waterman, the Eagle River boys soccer team blanked Chugiak 3-0 at The Dome on Saturday.

Prior scored the first goal in the CIC match, putting the Wolves up 1-0 at the half. Prior struck again midway through the second half and Waterman's scored late in the match.

South 8, Bartlett 0

South's Zak Naylor notched a hat trick at The Dome on Saturday, fueling an 8-0 blowout of Bartlett in a CIC boys soccer match.

Freshman Willie Homza scored twice for the Wolverines, and Daniel Sandstrom, Eyob Imlach and Zack Hendrix each adding goals.

Connor Gonzales was South's top distributor, earning two assists, and goalies Johnny Burgess and Griffin Toomey combined for the shutout.
