2 killed, 2 hurt by suspected drunken driver near Fairbanks

FAIRBANKS -- A Fairbanks man is in jail after police say he drove across the center line and struck another vehicle, killing two and seriously injuring two others near North Pole.

Thirty-one-year-old Paul Kirsteatter of Fairbanks was awaiting arraignment on charges of murder, assault and drunken driving.

Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman Beth Ipsen says Colton Fettig of Corvallis, Ore., and Jordan Boggs of North Pole, both 22, were killed in the crash just after midnight Saturday. Ipsen says Fettig was an Oregon State University student who spent summers working construction in Alaska and was visiting friends during his spring break.

Eighteen-year-old Gerald Noy and 20-year-old Hannah Gustafson of Fairbanks were seriously injured. Gustafson was in the intensive care unit at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital Saturday and Noy was transferred to an unknown hospital.
