Our view: Kikkan's day

Kikkan Randall is one of those Alaskans who can lift your spirits. Her accomplishments as a skier and runner have made her one of Alaska's top all-time athletes, and she doesn't appear to be finished yet.

Her example and encouragement to young Alaskans to achieve, stay fit, exult in the Alaska outdoors and compete fiercely and fairly proves it's little wonder she inspired a parade at Kincaid Park on Tuesday.

The specific reason for the parade and mix and mingle was her winning the World Cup Sprint Championship this season. She's the first American woman to win a World Cup title.

Randall leads an Alaska nordic skiing community that sets a high bar and invites youngsters reach for it and have fun doing so.

Congratulations to America's finest nordic skier, one of the best on the planet, and one of Alaska's own.
