UAA's Ward, Lloyd break GNAC track and field records

UAA's Shaun Ward and Haleigh Lloyd each broke Great Northwest Athletic Conference records Friday, with Grace Morgan and Micah Johnson setting UAA records at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa and Walnut California.

Ward, a senior from Eagle River, set a record in the men's 400-meter hurdles, finishing second overall with a provisional qualifying time of 52 seconds. Northwest Nazarene's Dallas Beaty held the previous record at 52.05.

Lloyd broke her own record in the women's 400-meter hurdles. The sophomore finished third, clocking 59.62 and earning her second career ticket to the NCAA Championships in May.

Morgan, a freshman, ran the women's 100 in 12.34 seconds for her UAA record, and the senior Johnson set his with a pole vault of 13 feet, 11 1/4 inches.
