Police looking for a black love seat linked to airman's death

Anchorage detectives working on the case of slain airman Clinton Reeves are looking for a black love seat, possibly covered in his blood at one time and connected to the killing, police said.

The 24-year-old Reeves was found dead in Eagle River on Tuesday after going missing almost three weeks earlier. Charges filed Wednesday against a fellow Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson airman, 24-year-old James Thomas, mention bloody clothes, carpet and a love seat Thomas said he cleaned and dumped.

Thomas faces six counts of felony evidence tampering related to Reeves' death. The charges say Reeves' cellphone was at Thomas' Anchorage home around the time Reeves vanished, and Thomas' account of the events leading up to the disappearance changed each time he talked to investigators.

Police spokesman Lt. Dave Parker said Friday that homicide detectives are looking for a black, plastic leather -- or "pleather" -- love seat Thomas told them he threw out, according to the charges. The detectives think the small couch was dropped somewhere at the Club Apartments near 5800 Lake Otis Blvd. between April 20 and April 23, Parker said.

Police ask that anyone with information about the black love seat call 786-8900.
