President and General Dwight Eisenhower said it well:
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.
"The problem in defense is how far you can go without destroying from within what you are trying to defend from without."
Our military budget is currently being used to pay and protect the multimillion-dollar bonuses of corporate interests around the world at the expense of those of us who pay for it and in whose names its many questionable endeavors are being run, and at the sacrifice of those who enlist and those who protect democracy from within by speaking out.
Please write Congress: Vote against increasing military spending at the expense of other programs.
