Service baseball tops Dimond 6-2

Service's Johnny Meszaros struck out seven over six innings Tuesday and benefitted from some stellar defensive plays by Jake Ridley and Ryan Caron in a 6-2 Cook Inlet Conference win over Dimond at Mulcahy Stadium.

Trace Woodruff put the Cougars ahead 2-0 with a two-run base hit in the second inning and knocked in the third of his three RBIs with a base hit in the fifth.

Dimond starting pitcher Kyle Kornegay struck out seven and walked nine in six innings of work.

West 8, Bartlett 5

West's Jacob Hillowitz allowed three hits over five innings Tuesday at Chad Bax field, helping the Eagles post an 8-5 win over Bartlett in a CIC baseball game.

Hillowitz also provided some offense, going 1 for 3 with a run and three stolen bases. Dalton Gantner-Chapman, who was 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs, struck out three in the bottom of the seventh to earn a save. Andrew Dickey doubled and scored for Bartlett, with Zach Schmidt notching a hit and a run.

East 5, Chugiak 4

Scott Campos struck out nine over eight innings Monday, helping East edge Chugiak 5-4 in a CIC baseball game at Kosinski Fields.

East's Jared Laws scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning on a base hit from Luke Schnellbaecher.

South 10, Eagle River 0

Conner Cucullu pitched a five-inning shutout, and South pounded Eagle River 10-0 in a CIC baseball game at Mulcahy Stadium on Monday.

Andy Schafer and Brad Butcher each drove in three runs, both going 2 for 3, and Conner Farnsworth provided some stellar defense to help preserve the shutout.

Chugiak 7, Eagle River 6

Chase Wilson scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning Saturday, giving Chugiak a 7-6 CIC baseball win over Eagle River at Mulcahy Stadium.

Devin Ferriss scored twice for the Mustangs, with Kai Fugere and Chase Gall each driving in runs.

Prep Softball

Service 15, Bartlett 0

Keaira Caldarera connected for a home run Tuesday, part of a 2-for-4 effort that led Service to a 15-0 Cook Inlet Conference softball win over Bartlett at Albrecht Fields.

Service's Stephanie Compton was another big source of offense, going 4 for 4 and crossing home plate four times.

Heather Breslin went 1 for 1 with a walk to lead Bartlett.

East 7, Service 0

Sydney Smith struck out 10 Monday, pitching a seven-inning shutout in East's 7-0 CIC softball win over Service at Albrecht Fields.

Erika Meyerson sparked the offense with three doubles and three runs, and Morgan Hill also belted a double for East (15-0).

Keaira Caldarera came up with two of Service's five hits, going 2 for 3.

Chugiak 9, Bartlett 1

Jess Tramp went 3 for 3 Monday, powering a 9-1 Chugiak win over Bartlett in a Cook Inlet Conference softball game at Albrecht Fields.

Karly Metcalf and Katie Bakkaer combined to pitch a one-hitter, and Mollie Matthis added two hits for the Mustangs.

South 18, Eagle River 2

Rachel Fowkes and Alex Cronquist each came up big at the plate Monday, leading South to an 18-2 romp over Eagle River in a CIC softball game at Albrecht Fields

Fowkes scored three times and drove in two more in a 2 for 3 performance, and Cronquist went 3 for 3 with two runs and two RBIs.

Girls prep soccer

Dimond 6, Chugiak 0

Ariela Lewis provided a hat trick and the Dimond girls soccer team closed out the Cook Inlet Conference regular season with a 6-0 win over host Chugiak.

Aaliyah Lewis, Bobbye Pendelton and Lauren Cole also notched goals, with goalie Katelyn Sweeney recording a shutout to help Dimond finish at 13-1-1.
