Dimond 8, West 3 in baseball

Sagan Osborne pitched a complete-game five-hitter and struck out nine Saturday afternoon, when the Dimond Post 21 beat West Post 1, 8-3 in seven innings at Mulcahy Stadium, in the opening game of the American Legion baseball season for both clubs.

Payton Lauwers rapped three hits and scored twice for Dimond, Jordan Clevenger doubled and scored twice, and Mitchell McCoy furnished two hits and drove in a run. John Gutsch singled and doubled for West.

Chugiak 3, South 1

Starter Justin Schneider and reliever Connor Cimmiyotti combined to hold South Post 4 in check and Chase Gall delivered a pair of RBI doubles Saturday to lead Chugiak Post 33 to a 3-1 American Legion baseball win at Mulcahy Stadium.

Chase Wilson added an RBI double for Chugiak. Logan Allred drove in South's run.

Eagle River 5, Bartlett 4

Eagle River's Kyle Frost drove in the winning run Saturday, and the Wolves opened their American Legion baseball season with a 5-4 win over Bartlett at Mulcahy Stadium.

Colby Leblanc drove in three runs for the Wolves, notching a double and a triple. Wesley Bennice pitched for a win, and Chris Parker picked up a save.

Logan Williams led Bartlett with two hits, including a two-run double.
