FAIRBANKS -- A woman was found dead early Tuesday morning in a Fairbanks-area house fire, Alaska State Troopers say.
The blaze was reported at 3:41 a.m. on Rozak Road, between Fairbanks and North Pole. Troopers arrived to find the home engulfed in flames. Firefighters discovered the body of a woman inside the burning residence, troopers say.
The woman has not yet been publicly identified, pending positive identification by the medical examiner's office and notification of her family.
No other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation, said trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters.
The residence is near the intersection of Rozak Road and the Richardson Highway, she said.
