Dimond sweeps Wasilla in legion baseball

Dimond Post 21 swept an American Legion baseball doubleheader against Wasilla Post 35 at Chad Bax Field on Saturday, edging Wasilla 8-6 in the first game and rolling to a 6-1 win in the second.

Sagan Osborne and Dylan Lauwers each notched three hits in the first win, with Osborne and Austin Brown each adding two stolen bases. Payton Lauwers struck out six over 8 1/3 innings for a win. Osborne took care of the last two hitters, striking out the last to earn a save and then proceeded to pitch a complete-game five-hitter in the late game.

"He got the last out in the first game and kind of rode it through the second one," Dimond coach Brad Lauwers said.

Wasilla scored the second game's first run in the first inning, but Dimond rallied for three in the bottom of the third to take a 3-1 lead. Grant Remmer and Mahlon Cleveland each belted two hits for Dimond.

Damon Hammer led Wasilla with a combined two hits and three RBIs. Jacob Butcher pitched a complete second game, adding a hit and stolen base.
