A woman who lost control of a pickup and crashed it near the village of Tuluksak on Saturday then proceeded to assault her passenger as the two made their way from the wreck to the Western Alaska village, Alaska State Troopers said.
Lorraine Peter, 30, of Tuluksak was driving a Chevrolet S10 pickup from the new airport apron toward the village. Troopers said she lost control and drove off the road, rolling the vehicle. Riding in the truck with her was Helen Lott, 53, of Tuluksak. The women weren't hurt in the crash but as they walked back to the village Peter attacked Lott, kicking her in the face and giving her black eyes and other bruises, troopers said.
Peter admitted she had been driving and that she had assaulted Lott and had drunk alcohol, troopers said. Troopers also found a small amount of marijuana on her, they said.
She was charged with driving under the influence, misdemeanor assault, refusal to take a chemical test and a misdemeanor drug offense, trooper said.
Troopers got a search warrant and were able to get a sample of her blood for testing. Peter is on misdemeanor probation and is not supposed to be drinking, troopers said.
