A pair of traffic accidents temporarily clogged rush-hour traffic Monday near Eagle River, police say.
The problems began at about 5 p.m. when a southbound van broke down or stopped along the inbound lanes near the Eagle River bridge, said Lt. David Parker, a police spokesman.
Several people got out of the van and crossed the median, stopping traffic as they walked across the busy northbound lanes of the highway, Parker said. In the confusion, a red coupe was apparently unable to stop in time, ran off the road and landed upside down in a ditch, Parker said.
A motorcycle also crashed in the ditch, he said. Neither appeared to suffer life-threatening injuries, Parker said. Police have not publicly identified any of the drivers involved.
All lanes were open as of about 6:15 p.m., Parker said.
