West, Dimond win

West 20, Service 6

A strong defensive effort, led by Mimi Troxel's nine pulls, propelled West to a 20-6 Cook Inlet Conference flag football victory over Service at Dimond Alumni Field on Tuesday.

The Eagles took a 13-0 halftime lead on a 1-yard rushing touchdown from Annie Rush and a 51-yard rushing touchdown from Anna Sophia Roberts, who led the team with 81 yards on nine carries. Rush completed 6 of 15 passes for 83 yards, throwing one interception and a 5-yard touchdown pass to Mekayla Winchester in the third quarter.

Shiccia Harris-Grant followed Winchester's touchdown with an extra-point conversion catch that put West up 20-0, and the Eagles held the Cougars out of the end zone until less than two minutes remained in the game.

Dimond 25, South 6

Vanessa Tufaga scored on touchdown runs of 33 and 58 yards Tuesday, racking 129 rushing yards on eight carries in Dimond's 25-6 win over South in a CIC flag football game at Dimond Alumni Field.

Dimond took a 19-0 lead before South managed to score late in the third quarter to make it 19-6, but Tufaga answered with her 58-yard score in the fourth quarter.

Dimond's Kalie Suellentrop made two receptions, one for a 60-yard gain and another for a 5-yard touchdown. Tufaga and Gabby Coleman each made three pulls to lead the Dimond defense, and Whitney Jackson pulled in an interception for the Lynx.
