Eagle River sweeps Service in volleyball

Elexa Walker served six aces and chalked up 21 assists to lift Eagle River to a sweep of Service in Friday's Cook Inlet Conference volleyball action. The Wolves took a 25-16, 25-16, 25-19 home-court victory.

Morgen Wohrle put down 11 kills to go with 11 digs and Tess Anderson came up with 12 digs for Eagle River. Gabbi LeCates chipped in six kills and four aces for the Wolves.

South 3, Bartlett 0

Mikayla Sweet recorded 10 aces Friday to boost the South volleyball team to a 25-13, 25-9, 25-17 win over host Bartlett in a CIC match.

Holly Morehouse's seven kills led the South offense, along with Morgan Hooe's 23 assists. Lauren Hoffman led the Wolverines on defense with 15 digs.

Bartlett's Celeste Manumaleuna notched five kills, three blocks and two digs and Raven Agraviador and Autumn Plews each contributing four kills and three digs.

Dimond 3, East 1

Leah Swiss came up one kill shy of a double-double Friday, her nine kills and 10 digs propelling Dimond to a 25-12, 25-20, 20-25, 25-10 CIC volleyball win over visiting East.

Aaliyah Lewis backed the Dimond defense with 27 digs and Janelle Feller (12 assists) and Sierra Afoa each hit seven kills.

Mafi Makihele and Taria Page led the way for the Thunderbirds.

West 3, Chugiak 1

West's Rita Dexter and Nya Carter each racked 11 kills Friday and the Eagles slipped by Chugiak 26-24, 30-28, 18-25, 25-18 in a CIC volleyball match at Chugiak.

Nicole Meyers distributed 31 assists for West and Diana Lobontiu made 13 digs. Rachel Gregg led Chugiak with 21 kills.

Palmer 3, Soldotna 2

Palmer edged Soldotna in a five-set high school volleyball match Friday at Palmer, winning 25-18, 17-25, 25-22, 15-25, 15-11.

Kaillee Skjold led Soldotna with 21 blocks, and Natalie Kress produced 32 digs.
