Oktoberfest Run For Beans, 7:30 a.m., Snow Goose Restaurant and Pub, 717 W. Third Ave. A 5-K and 10-K out and back course on the Coastal Trail. Proceeds will benefit Bean's Cafe and the Brother Francis Shelter. There is a 1/4 mile children's race. Runners in costume get a one minute head start. MCA Ice Climbing Festival, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Glacier Park Resort, N. Cobb St. The instructional ice climbing weekend includes modern ice climbing techniques, associated safety systems and familiarity with equipment. All levels of experience welcome, novice included. Alaska Water Wise, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Robert B. Atwood Building, 550 W. Seventh Ave. The Alaska Office of Boating Safety is offering a boating course designed for Alaskans. Approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard.
