At the Thursday evening HALO Candidate Forum, the Senate candidates were asked their opinions on abortion. Cathy Giessel answered by saying a "bill was introduced this last session that would require that a woman be offered an ultrasound before an abortion procedure. It did not require the ultrasound be done, only that fully informed patients be offered the opportunity to have an ultrasound."
According to the official Alaska State Legislature website, the title of SB 191 is, Ultrasound before Abortion: "An Act requiring an ultrasound before an abortion." ' Cathy Giessel is a co-sponsor.
