Star of acclaimed Inuit-language film shoots polar bear in self-defense

A star of the 2001 Inuit movie "Atanarjuat (The Fast Runner)" shot and killed a polar bear he said was looking through a window into his cabin in the Canadian territory of Nunavut, reports CBC News.

Natar Ungalaaq ... said on Wednesday that he woke to an alarming sight — a bear was staring into his cabin. ...

"I had an experience of shooting that bear you know, almost naked you know. The last movie that I was [in I was] all naked but this time I had to use shorts to get out from my bed and shoot that bear, but last night I was not smiling," he said.

He is referring to a scene in the movie in which he runs naked on bleeding feet over Arctic snow and ice to escape a killer.
