Gabbi Lecates 10 kills and five blocks led the way for Eagle River in a 25-22, 14-25, 14-25, 25-22, 15-12 win over Bartlett in a CIC volleyball match at Bartlett High on Tuesday.
Morgan Wohrle added six kills and 12 digs for the Wolves, with Brianna Howard tossing in 16 digs.
South 3, East 0
South setter Morgan Hooe dished 23 assists Tuesday in a CIC volleyball match, helping the Wolverines claim a 25-5, 25-21, 25-17 win over host East.
Mikayla Sweet's nine kills paced South's attack, with Caitlin Sweeney adding five. Christa Leader racked 16 digs for the Wolverines.
Mafi Makihele's 18 assists and Taria Page's nine kills led the East offense. Morgan Hill chipped in four kills and Christa Almario registered 12 digs.
Chugiak 3, Service 0
Kirsten Veech racked a double-double in a CIC volleyball match Tuesday, her 12 kills and 10 digs powering a 25-12, 25-11, 25-22 Chugiak home win over Service on Senior Night for the Mustangs.
Rachel Gregg just missed a double-double for the Mustangs, recording 14 kills and eight blocks. Kara Haeussler, one of three seniors playing for Chugiak, notched 20 digs. McKenzie Kish and Kathleen Gill were the two other seniors to play for Chugiak.
Grace 3, Houston 0
Grace Christian swept Houston 25-20, 25-14, 25-15 in a high school volleyball match at Houston on Tuesday.
Nicole Weisenfelder led Grace with nine kills and three aces, and Heather Green recorded six kills and 11 digs.
Alaska closes tournament with draw and a win
The Alaska Baseball Academy, a team comprised of some of Alaska's top high school players, finished the Arizona Senior Fall Classic in Phoenix, Ariz., with a 2-2-1 record after a tie and a win Sunday.
Alaska played to a 4-4 tie in an early game against the Mountain West Baseball Prospects and earned an 8-4 win over MVP Baseball, a national all-star team.
Juneau's Tanner Petrie struck out five in four innings in the first game, and Service's Jake Ridley, East's Scott Campos and Chugiak's Chase Wilson each collected two hits.
Fairbanks' Scooter Bynum (Monroe) notched three hits in the win, belting a double and driving in two runs. Colony's Ben Ross added a double, with Dalton Chapman (West) and Wilson each contributing RBI singles.
