Letter: U-Med candidate Josephson excited to get to know voters

It has been my great honor and privilege to be a general election candidate for state House District 15 (U-Med, Tudor, College Village, College Gate, Green Acres). I have especially enjoyed meeting the voters. I often couldn't help but to immediately call my family with excitement over the folks I met at their door stoops with whom I felt a connection, whether personal or political.

I believe our campaign has been consistent on the important topics of the day: issues like oil and gas tax reform, the Pebble mine, and our record operating and capital budgets. I believe that my 48 years in Alaska, working as a public school teacher, university instructor, state prosecutor, and Planning and Zoning commissioner will give me the background I need to ably represent my neighbors in Juneau.

I have truly treated the role of candidate as a job interview, and it's been the longest job interview of my life — topping 14 months in length. I am honored that 13 major groups have endorsed me. They, too, have my thanks.

— Andy Josephson
