Man stabbed while waiting for friends outside downtown bar

A 25-year-old man found critically wounded as bars closed early Sunday morning in downtown Anchorage told police he was stabbed while waiting for friends outside the Gaslight Lounge, a police department spokesman said Monday.

Police discovered the injured man at 2:41 a.m., said Lt. Dave Parker. Investigators found no evidence the stabbing was connected to a fatal shooting about 12 minutes later and three blocks away outside Platinum Jaxx, he said.

"There didn't appear to be any relationship between the two except they both occurred within minutes of each other at bar break," Parker said.

Police on Monday morning identified the man killed outside the Platinum Jaxx Halloween party as 27-year-old Said Beshirov. Detectives have made no arrests in either case, Parker said.

Police have not publicly identified the stabbing victim. That man suffered a wound or wounds to his torso and was in critical condition Sunday at a local hospital, Parker said.

The spokesman said he did not know the man's current condition at the hospital.

The attacks marked a violent night for downtown partygoers. Police discovered the stabbing while responding to reports of an argument at the Anchor Pub, across Fourth Avenue from the Gaslight, Parker said.
