BOYS HOCKEY

Eagle River 2, Palmer 1

Bryan Grant scored a power-play goal in overtime Friday to lift Eagle River to a 2-1 nonconferene boys hockey win over Palmer at the McDonald Center.

Carter Jesiel and Quinn Hulse assisted on the gamewinner.

Palmer led 1-0 on Christopher Dojka's first-period goal. Eagle River tied it in the third period with Brett Wood's goal.

Eagle River goaltender Justin Lopez turned away 11 shots for the win. Ashton Good stopped 29 for Palmer.

South 6, Chugiak 2

South unleashed three goals in the third period Friday at Ben Boeke Arena to claim a 6-2 Cook Inlet Conference hockey victory over Chugiak.

Jonathan Weston scored two goals and an assist for the winners, getting the goal and one of the assists in the third period.

Tyler Onstott and Steven Orizotti each contributed a goal and assist for the Wolverines, who led 3-2 after two periods.

South, which pelted Chugiak goaltender Matt Bennett with 32 shots, also got goals from Ronald Perry and Gavin Lubin

William Casey and Taylor Garner scored goals for the Mustangs, with Casey assisting on Garner's.

GIRLS HOCKEY

South-Bartlett romps

Alahna Stivers scored two goals and Morgan Newhouse scored a goal and two assists Friday to carry South-Bartlett past Chugiak-Eagle River 6-2 in a CIC girls hockey game Friday at Ben Boeke.

South-Bartlett, which led 3-0 after one period, fired 24 shots to Chugiak-Eagle River's nine.

West 7, Eagle River 0

Katie Wolski fired a 292 Friday to help West blank Eagle River in a Cook Inlet Conference riflery meet.

Erin Brayfield's 280 sparked the B team and Melinna Bell's 274 led the C team for the Eagles.
