Hilltop Alpine Race Team, 4:30-7:30 p.m., Hilltop Chalet at Hilltop Ski Area, 7014 Abbott Roadd. Hilltop is now offering an Alpine Race program. This is a competitive ski team that will be racing in the Youth Ski League against other youth ski teams from the Anchorage area. The program is for ages 7-13, who are intermediate to advanced skiers. Program includes: professional coaching by experienced racers, pre-season dryland training, running gates, video analysis of students skiing, and 3 hour practices twice a week. Little Nordic Ski Club, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Kincaid Outdoor Center, 9401 Raspberry Road. Open to children ages 4-5 who would like to learn to cross country ski. No experience is necessary. Choose Tuesday or Saturday practice. Practice locations may change according to weather conditions. Skiers need to provide their own equipment. Parent meetings are held the first meeting of the session. The tuesday session is Nov. 13-Dec. 18. The Saturday session is Nov. 17-Jan. 5. $50. Wildlife Wednesday, 7 p.m., Alaska Zoo Gateway Building, 4731 O'Malley Road. Gary Drew, research wildlife biologist and Christopher Waythomas, research Geologist, both with the U.S. Geological Survey, share research findings before and after the 2008 eruption of this central Aleutian volcano. Now buried under extensive volcanic materials, Kasatochi once supported vast colonies of seabirds, including hundreds of thousands of auklets. Free.
