I worked at the state election office for early voting instead of the precinct this year and I must thank all the wonderful temporary folks I worked with and the outstanding staff who was always there to troubleshoot, etc., no matter how small the problem. Many thanks are also in order for our Region II Anchorage/Matanuska-Susitna election supervisor, Julie Husmann, for running such a smooth election, as our office covered all 40 districts for the state. No matter where you lived, you could come into the election office and receive your correct ballot for your district.
But I did tell Julie she couldn’t pay me enough to do her multi-tasked, stressful job. I hope in the future we might be able to get rid of the paper registrars at the precincts and go for new technology or go strictly as a mail-in ballot like they use in Oregon and Washington state. Kudos to Julie and staff!
