BOYS PREP HOCKEY

South 4, Service 2

South quickly rebounded from a pair of first-period goals by Service's Andrew Cummings and pushed back Tuesday night to forge a 4-2 Cook Inlet Conference boys hockey victory at Ben Boeke Arena.

After South's Steven Orzotti scored five minutes into the game, Cummings struck twice, including once short-handed, to furnish the Cougars a 2-1 lead at the break.

Cayden Cahill pulled South into a 2-2 tie just 41 seconds into the second period and Cameron Klatt's power-play strike off an Orizotti assist earned the Wolverines a 3-2 lead midway through the period. Gavin Lubin's goal midway through the third period delivered the Wolverines a 4-2 cushion.

Nathan Wright made 20 saves for South and Dustin Fritz stopped 26 shots for Service.

West 4, Chugiak 1

Dawson Ellingworth's goal and two assists, and Codie Cope's goal and assist helped the West boys hockey team earn a 4-1 win over Chugiak in a CIC game Tuesday night at the McDonald Center in Eagle River.

Max Osgood and Steve Gustafson also scored for West, which received 14 saves from Joe Chekan.

Taylor Garner scored the Mustangs' goal.

East 8, Bartlett 4

Sam Stinson, Justin Beverlin and Craig Hayes each racked a pair of goals Monday night to aid East's 8-4 win over Bartlett in a CIC boys hockey game at Ben Boeke Arena.

Steven Butts delivered four assists for the Thunderbirds and Tarini Tosi added three helpers.

East's 54-shot barrage offset a hat trick from Bartlett's Joel Johnson. The Golden Bears received four assists from Kyle Sun.

Dimond 13, E. River 2

Hat tricks from Josh Larson, Lane Bauer and Kenny Haysinger triggered Dimond's 13-2 CIC victory over Eagle River in a boys hockey game Monday night at the McDonald Center in Eagle River.

Bauer, Haysinger and defenseman Tyler Andrews, who furnished two goals and three assists, all enjoyed five-point nights. The Lynx also received goals from Tyler Garcia and Andrew Shields.

Brett Wood and Bryan Grant scored for Eagle River.

GIRLS PREP HOCKEY

Dimond-West wins squeaker

Brandi Muller and Tami Suenram delivered goals, and goaltender Lillian Lewis stopped 12 shots Tuesday night to earn Dimond-West a 2-1 victory over Service-East in a Cook Inlet Conference girls hockey game at Ben Boeke Arena.

Muller's power-play strike late in the first period and Suenram's goal early in the second period stakes Dimond-West to a 2-0 lead. Allye Brodie assisted on both goals.

Service-East's Morgan Hill cut the margin to 2-1 with a power-play goal later in the second period. Service-East pulled goalie Julia Miknich (12 saves) for an extra attacker in the late going, but to no avail.

Millen paces win

Mackenzie Millen bagged a hat trick Tuesday night to lead South-Bartlett to a 6-4 victory over Chugiak-Eagle River in a CIC girls hockey game at the McDonald Center in Eagle River.

South-Bartlett also received one goal and one assist from Ivy Weeks, and goals from Georgianna Hoss and Alahna Stivers.

Autumn Sperry and Morgan Elledge each scored two goals for Chugiak-Eagle River, and Elledge also furnished an assist.

Service-East wins

Felila Manu scored two power-play goals Monday night to help lift the Service-East girls hockey team to a 3-1 CIC victory over South-Bartlett at Ben Boeke Arena.

Leilani Blair contributed one goal and one assist, and Heather Merkouris added two helpers. Julia Miknich stopped 10 shots for Service-East.

Alahna Stivers scored for South-Bartlett.
