Rather than informing its readers about the true conditions under which 1.7 million Palestinians are forced to live in the Gaza Strip, ADN instead chooses to publish a racist cartoon showing a Palestinian resistance fighter using children as a human shield (Nov. 20).
The population density of Gaza is extremely high. Over half of those living in Gaza are under the age of 16. Even with the best intentions (which they clearly lack), and the most advanced weaponry (provided by the United States), Israeli bombs have, and will continue, to kill many innocent Palestinian children.
Such cartoons may enable Israel’s supporters to feel better about themselves, but ADN does a great disservice to its Alaska readers in presenting propaganda that is used to justify war crimes.
