Letter: State should step in, save bakery

In discussion in my office, the topic of Sunrise Bakery came up. It was our conclusion that it would be a wise investment for the state of Alaska to purchase of the assets of Sunrise Bakery and to continue to provide fresh bakery products to all Alaskans.

This would allow for the 90 or so employees to continue their employment and subsequently continue to provide for our bread products to once again be "2000 miles" fresher. Without taking this opportunity into serious consideration, bread and other bakery items' costs will surely rise and that will impact us all, i.e., the general public, federal and state government, and local school districts.
