Letter: Main budget not for benefits

Sen. Mark Begich's plan for saving Social Security better include a provision to remove all future funding of the program from the general budget. If that is not done the money will be wasted as it is now.

The only reason Social Security is insolvent is the Congress; if the Congress had not put the Social Security Trust fund into the general fund in the late '60s we would not be in the situation we are today. It is a fact that the more money we give Congress the more Begich and his cronies will spend.
