VOLLEYBALL

Gatorade honors Swiss

Junior Leah Swiss of Dimond, an outside hitter who helped the Lynx to the Class 4A state championship, has been named the 2012-13 Gatorade Player of the Year for volleyball.

Swiss generated 29 kills in a state-championship win over South and was named Most Valuable Player of the state tournament.

"What impresses me most about Leah Swiss is that she is a true team player and she doesn't hesitate to own up to her mistakes,'' said Service coach Brian Stenehjem. "She is exciting to watch and she is able to raise her teammates' level of play with her leadership.''
