BOYS HOCKEY
Chugiak 3, Service 2
Hunter Hanson scored the game-winning goal with less than four minutes remaining Thursday to lift Chugiak past Service 3-2 at Ben Boeke Ice Arena.
Four of the game's five goals came in the third period.
Chugiak took a 1-0 lead in the first period with Taylor Garner's power-play goal. Kris Tomazevic upped the Mustangs' lead to 2-0 just 32 seconds into the third period.
Service tied it with goals from Karson Frisk and Tyler Mikarch, with Mikarch's tying goal coming with 5 minutes, 46 seconds left. Hanson broke the tie at 3:36.
Matt Bennett made 15 saves for the Mustangs and Dustin Fritz had 16 for Service.
PREP BASKETBALL
Lumen Christi Classic
Tory Kruger scored a game-high 12 points and Jessica Robertson and Amber Tabios each added 11 Thursday to help guide Lumen Christi to a 42-17 victory over Birchwood Christian in opening-round action in the Lumen Christi Classic in Anchorage.
Katie Becker's six points led Birchwood.
In other action, the Dimond JV girls team took a 33-23 win over Wasilla Lake Christian and the West JV boys team stopped Wasilla Lake Christian 54-43.
PREP BOWLING
Schoene powers East
Taylor Schoeni led all bowlers Thursday with a 268 in her first game at Center Bowl. She backed it up with a 204 to help the East girls claim victory over West in the Cook Inlet Conference season's fourth match.
Eagle River, Dimond and Chugiak also picked up wins on the girls side, with East, Eagle River, Dimond and Chugiak winning boys matches.
Bartlett's Ryan Dudley rolled the highest boys game with a 245 in a loss to Eagle River, which got a 225 and 208 from Bobby Leibbrand.
