Driver of stolen car in wreck arrested after release from hospital

Anchorage police on Tuesday arrested a man driving a stolen car in a Dec. 9 car chase and collision that injured himself and a woman in another vehicle, police said.

Officers arrested the man, 24-year-old Joplin, Mo., resident Kevin Wright, upon his release from a local hospital.

Wright was allegedly driving a stolen Dodge sedan about 11 p.m. Dec. 9 when a police officer tried to stop the car, Parker said. With four passengers in the car, Wright drove through a stoplight at 15th Avenue and C Street, then smashed into a Chevrolet Blazer driven by 31-year-old Mylinda Forrester, the police spokesman said.

Forrester, who was partially ejected when the Blazer rolled on its side down an embankment, remained in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit on Tuesday, Parker said. Her condition has been steadily improving, he said.

All four of Wright's passengers were hospitalized, and none were charged, Parker said.

Wright faces charges of vehicle theft, eluding police, assault and driving without a valid license.
