Leinweber flourishing abroad (Alaska connections in EIHL)

Former UAA winger/defenseman Curtis Leinweber headed across the pond a little ways into the season, and it looks like he is flourishing for the Edinburgh Capitals in the Great Britain-based Elite Ice Hockey League.

Leinweber has generated 7-5--12 totals in eight games, including five power-play strikes, and is riding a six-game goal streak. One of his teammates in Scotland is his UAA teammate Jade Portwood, the winger who has been injured but in 10 games earned 1-8--9 totals.

Here's how some other Alaska-connected dudes are doing in the EIHL:

Braehead Clan -- Former UAA defenseman Matt Hanson (1-11--12 in 20 games) and (very briefly) former UAA forward Jade Galbraith (17-11--28 in 23 games).

Cardiff Devils -- Former Alaska Aces defenseman Tyson Marsh (4-16--20 in 24 games) and former UAA defensemen Mark Smith (1-4--5 in 31 games).

Coventry Blaze -- Former Aces defenseman Benn Olson (2-6--8 and a league-leading 259 penalty minutes in 30 games).

Dundee Stars -- Forward Bill Bagron of Eagle River (7-14--21 in 24 games) and former Aces defenseman Danny Markowitz (0-0-0 in four games).

Hull Stingrays -- Former Aces winger/defenseman Jeff Smith (1-6--7 in 29 games) and former UAA defenseman Shane Lovdahl of Anchorage (0-6--6 in 26 games).

Sheffield Steelers -- Former UAA and Aces goaltender John DeCaro (18-7-2, 2.55, .909, one shutout).
